Causes & Effect Essay: Causes of Students to Take Up Jobs

Recently, students have started to take up jobs in addition to their academic lifestyle. Because of this phenomenon, many of them choose to work rather than to study. The question is what causes them to make such decisions? The contributors to this issue are financial problems, work experience and improvement in self-awareness.

First of all, students take up jobs because of financial-related issues. Most students, who are in lower-middle-class neighborhoods, work to earn additional money for academic fees, personal expenditures and miscellaneous usages such as rental fees. Some of them would also work in order to reduce the financial burden of their families, others would take up jobs to avoid study loans as they will not afford to pay back the loans even when they enter the workplace after graduation. In short, financial-related problems cause students to work rather than to study.

Secondly, students choose to work so that they will experience work life before graduation. By working, they will build up a stronger mentality to help them face the harsh work life such as having the ability to accept harsh and negative feedback from the superior. They will also learn to gain experiences from failures such as facing rejections on a business proposal and having a failed group project. Therefore, students take up jobs to adapt themselves in a working environment beforehand.

Lastly, students choose work over studies to improve their self-awareness. When they are in a workplace, they will learn to control themselves from doing any inappropriate behavior such as checking on their social media frequently at work and cancelling a work discussion without a valid reason. They will also learn to manage their time better and become more motivated to do well in their studies. As a result, the self-awareness of students will be improved at work.

In conclusion, there are many reasons why students choose work over studying. Financial problems, work experience and improvement in self-awareness are among the elements that influence students to make such decisions. Though students should have a balance between their jobs and studies, it is a matter of time before they have to decide between the two options.

Comparison & Contrast Essay: Marriage & Divorce (feat. Jasmine and Christopher)

This topic was given to me and my 2 coursemates (Jasmine and Christopher) by my teacher, Ms. Parveen. Maybe because the English writing level of us three is considered good in my Academic English lecture class, she decided to give us this topic as a sign of her high expectations towards us. Luckily, we #nailed the essay and she was quite pleased with the outcome.

Essay:

American writer Mark Twain once said, 'Love seems the swiftest, but it is the slowest of all growths. No man or woman really knows what perfect love is until they have been married a quarter of a century.' Marriage and divorce; both are common experiences in one's love life and yet they appeared on different timelines. Hence, the difference between marriage and divorce is their roles in relationships while the similarities of marriage and divorce are that they requires the agreement between two individuals, and has involvement in legal work.

First, the difference between marriage and divorce lies in their roles in a relationship between two individuals. Marriage means an intimate union between two individuals while divorce is defined as the process of terminating the union between the two individuals. From there, it is safe to say that marriage happens when two individuals wanted to be together for life while divorce occurs when the two individuals grew resentment from the marriage and decided to be apart from each other. For short, the processes of marriage and divorce differs in how they act their parts in one's relationship with his/her spouses.

In contrast, the first similarity of marriage and divorce is that both processes requires the agreement between two individuals. Before two individuals get married, both must reach a firm agreement which they must adapt to their marriage life with mutual respect and passion. Same for the divorce process, both individuals must agree to part from each other without causing issues to both individuals. Without mutual agreement, the two individuals will not have a long-lasting marriage while the divorce process will be a lot messier when both sides don't agree to end their relationship in a healthy manner. In a nutshell, the element of mutual agreement plays an important role in both marriage and divorce.

Furthermore, marriage and divorce are similar in terms of involving legal paperwork or documentation for it to be official. A husband and wife can only be declared as officially married or obtain a marital status once they have registered with the National Registration Department. This also applies for those who are filing for a divorce. Both require individuals to go through a series of procedures and approvals from higher-level officials before the documentation is authorized. Having successfully obtaining the legal document, spouses are eligible of receiving certain benefits, privileges or claims of ownership. For example, a divorce is able to have custody over his or her children if it is found that the other parent in incapable of fulfilling this responsibility. A legal document upholds the rights and presents the breach of agreement among two individuals. Therefore, involving legal paperwork is one characteristic that both marriage and divorce have in common.

In conclusion, marriage and divorce are different in what the two processes symbolize whereas similar through aspects of the involvement of two individuals and requires legal paperwork. In the community we live in today, divorce cases or failed marriages have seen a steady increase over the past decade. Nevertheless, we, the society as a whole, and especially married couples ought to be mindful of the causes of failed marriages and work together to overcome the problem. In this way, married individuals will better appreciate the unbreakable bond they committed themselves to when they joined hands on their wedding day and lean to devote their lives to each other to the fullest.

Cause & Effect Essay: Causes of Students' Misbehavior in Class

To a teacher, a class of misbehaving children is the embodiment of a living nightmare. In order to resolve this issue, the teacher should identify the sources that lead to the issue itself. The occurrence of the students’ misbehavior in class is generally caused by the following factors: impulsivity, lack of self-confidence and family issues.

First of all, students misbehave in class due to their tendency in being impulsive. Some students, who act before thinking much, would most likely do things that will disrupt the teaching and learning process, such as attempting to ask questions during the teaching session at the wrong timing. This is because they tend to react to something before thinking about the upcoming consequences of their actions. In short, impulsivity causes students to misbehave in class.

Secondly, students misbehave in class because they lack self-confidence. This trait would most likely be seen in students who fear in not living up to any expectations. As a result, they would misbehave in class to minimize their participation in school activities as their lack of self-confidence would drown their enthusiasm towards the learning process. Therefore, students misbehave in class to mask their inability in being confident.

Lastly, the misbehavior caused by students in class may originate from their family issues. This is because a student’s attitude would sometimes correspond to the conditions of the student’s family. For instance, a student who has a poor family upbringing will most likely misbehave in class. Students who have a broken home would also misbehave in class as they see their misbehavior as an outlet to vent their suffering from their family troubles. In a nutshell, family problems would drive them to their misbehavior in class.

In conclusion, there are many reasons why students misbehave in class. Impulsivity, lack of self-confidence and family issues are some of the components that influence students to act in such a manner during class sessions. Although it is a norm for students to misbehave in class, one should not overlook the motives behind its actions.
